Challenging conditions today. Shifting and gusting wind made for some fun targets.

Shooting #8 1oz shells through an IC choke from the 16 yard line. Conditions forced me to take a fraction of a second to see the target before going for it. In the first round I was instinctively shooting and therefore missing more targets than I'd like to admit.

Rather than quit at that point I decided to see if I could pull it together. Slowing down a bit and concentrating made the difference. Dropping only 3 birds in the next 50 rounds was much better. The majority of the breaks were solid, even, with the IC. So I think the jury is still out about how much choke is really necessary in trap. I suppose once I start regularly shooting 100s I will be a better judge of that.

I will be shooting in the Western Grand this coming week at the Spokane Gun Club. Looks to be a big shoot from what I hear. I'm damn lucky to have a club like the Spokane Club that hosts multiple registered shoots so near where I live. Wish I had something like that growing up as a kid in Massachusetts.

Also, just in case you haven't noticed, All American trap shooter and coach, Kay Ohye has joined Trapsites. So if you haven't registered yet, please do so now. You'll be in great company.
